Astronaut training is the use of specifically designed exercises by a trained Occupational Therapist during treatment sessions and concise home program activities intended to activate and integrate the vestibular (moving), auditory (listening) and visual (looking) systems to promote optimum function.
The Vestibular-Auditory-Visual triad provides the backdrop for virtually everything we do and thus contributes greatly to the quality of our lives. Successful integration of the Vestibular-Auditory-Visual triad will impact all aspects of our behavior from planning, directing, and controlling our actions to achieving high academic performance.
Improvements have been noted in balance, coordination, motor planning, listening, attention, making transitions, problem solving, engagement, visual motor and visual perceptual skills.
